I guess the big piece of news is that I’ve decided to start writing a sci-fi novel. I’m 100% sick of putting off this dream, so I’m 95% committed to at least having a completed first draft by the end of January 2026.
As with most writing projects, this is a combination of a bunch of previous ideas I’ve considered over the past 10+ years. I’m not going to delve deep into what it’s going to be about, but I have a codename for the project and a “tagline”.
Code Name: Collect & Process
Tagline: You can’t predict the future, but you can shape it.

In other news, here’s what I’ve been up to:

Work

I’m a content lead at a tech company. It’s privately owned, so none of that “VC obsession with growth = everyone gets laid off randomly” bullshit. It’s my third month at the company, and if all goes well I will have passed my trial period by the time it’s time to write the next weeknotes post. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Books

I have been blasting through the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I’m on book 7 now. I’m listening to them instead of reading, and this might be one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever had the pleasure of binging. The vocal range of Jeff Hays is astounding.

Movies

Tried watching Legend. Could not finish it. All the “good bits” (aka the gifable ones) are at the start of the movie, and the rest of it felt like a bit of a slog. I think my expectations were too high. When will I finally learn to keep my expectations low? Possibly never.

Games

Unfortunately playing lots of League of Legends. That’s part of the reason I decided to start working on my novel instead. Anything to get me to waste less time on this stupid game.

Pens

I got a new TWISBY eco and a Fisher Space Pen for my birthday. Seems like all my EDC writing needs are finally covered.
