Here’s to another online handle change in my long history of frequent online handle changes. This is definitely the 20th+ username/blog url I’ve had since I first started having accounts/websites online. I think I had my first website on tripod.com when I was 8. COPPA just wasn’t a thing back then, and if it was, I wasn’t reading the ToS anyway. FWIW even back then I had the presence of mind to not use my real name anywhere online. To this day. I’ve only used my real name on Facebook, VK (fuck that place), and my business website. Everything else was a handle of some level of cringe.

I think as far as handles go, the three I’ve liked the most so far were ffsanton, tttooooni, and now vibe observer (though I know this type of handle ages me and will look lame if I give it a decade or even just a couple of years or even a couple of days).

The ffsanton era ended because… it was there through most of my 20s and my 20s ending felt like a good time to let it go.
I still think tttooooni is pretty cool (to be read like that t-t-t-t-taaaargeeeet vine), but good luck to anyone trying to explain how to spell that. “Three t’a and four o’s”. Give me a break.

And so vibe observer seems fitting because I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of vibes. I think that in art there are no objective metrics for good/bad, but if it has a vibe — you definitely feel it. And trying to put that feeling into words is always very exciting for me.

And so, here I am on my new website called Vibe Observer. I think I’ll finally let myself pull my head out of my own ass and just let myself experience art without any pretense of critical thinking and then come on here and talk about its vibes and how it made me feel and how I think it managed to make me feel what I felt.

If you’re reading this, thanks for coming along for the ride!

Cheers, toni
